DAVAO CITY – Fifteen-year-old Filipino tennis teen sensation Alex Eala has entered the top 800 rankings among the women’s professional tennis players in the world.
Eala is now ranked 763 in the World Tennis Association (WTA) ranking after she won her first international professional tennis title in Mallorca, Spain last month.
While she is ranked 763 in the professional tennis circle, Eala is ranked as the third-best junior tennis player in the world by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
It can be recalled that Eala bounced back after being down a set to beat hometown favorite Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 to win the W15 Manacor tournament.
Despite being the youngest player in the ITF sanctioned tournament, Eala proved she is a talented player by reaching all the way to the finals and eventually winning the title.
Eala, a former Australian Open junior doubles champion is very happy and pleased with her recent win.
She is grateful that despite being the lowest seed in the tournament she still won the tournament.
The Philippine Sports Commission is very pleased with the win of Eala who is considered the newest tennis prodigy in the country.
