DAVAO CITY – A projected first-round pick in the Philippine Basketball Association rookie draft 2021, who hails from Doña Salud, Sasa here has expressed willingness to avoid chicken dishes for him to slim down and have a long PBA career.

Burly Davaoeño forward Alvin Pasaol is is dubbed as the next Nelson Asaytono in the PBA is now exerting efforts to slim down and be more effective in the PBA.

In a recent talk to the media, Pasaol said he will now follow the advice of his former coach in the University of East in the UAAP Derek Pumaren to slim down for him to have a long PBA career.

Pasaol said part of his plan of trimming down is to totally avoid chicken dishes in his meal.

“Kailangan ko nang gawin lahat kahit hindi na ako kumain ng manok,” Pasaol said.

Pasaol is doing the effort to slim down because basketball experts believe he can be more effective in the PBA if he is slim.

The experts earlier said the way Pasaol plays reminds many of PBA legend Asaytono who is not that tall but very athletic and a good scorer in his PBA days.

The experts said Pasaol only at 6’2 can score in all areas from outside to inside just like Asaytono. Some experts also tagged Pasaol as another Noli Locsin who uses his wide body to score points in the PBA during his PBA days.

The experts said a lot of PBA teams are salivating to draft Pasaol because he is a good scorer and rebounder despite his small frame.

Pasaol said it is now the right time for him to enter the PBA draft after two years of avoiding it due to his duty as a 3×3 player for the Philippines.

Pasaol said if ever he will be drafted, it is a fulfillment of his childhood dream to play in the PBA, the oldest professional basketball league in Asia.

Pasaol previously played for Zamboanga in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

Before making it big in Metro Manila, Pasaol played briefly in some local leagues in Davao City where he was scouted while playing in one of the commercial teams here.
