DAVAO CITY – The Barangay Kiagot of Digos City and Barangay Guihing of Hagonoy town in Davao del Sur are cited as this year’s Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa or barangay peace committees in the province.
In a memorandum from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) of Davao del Sur dated April 5, they were conferred at the Provincial Search for the Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA).
For the Component City category, Barangay Kiagot of Digos City emerged as the winning barangay after it garnered 99.58 percent rating in its overall performance.
On the other hand, Barangay Guihing of Hagonoy town, which obtained 99.30 percent in its overall performance, ranked first among other barangays from nine municipalities in the 1st-3rd Class Municipality category.
Provincial Director Mika-Chan Magtulis of DILG Davao del Sur, said that Barangays Kiagot and Guihing will each be receiving P150,000 cash incentive and plaque of recognition from the Provincial Government.
He added that Barangays Kiagot and Guihing will be the provincial entries for the Regional Search for Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa CY 2021, which is slated tentatively on April 19.
“The LTIA is a joint program of DILG and the Department of Justice (DOJ), aiming to highlight the role of the lupong tagapamayapa in communities and their resourcefulness in resolving cases under the Katarungang Pambarangay or barangay justice system,” Magtulis said.
Meanwhile, Barangay Ceboza of Matanao ranked second with 97.60 percent rating, followed by Barangay Malawanit of Magsaysay with a rating of 97.40 percent. A cash incentive of P125,000 and P100,000 will be given respectively.
While P25,000 consolation prize will be given to each of the seven other barangays.
