DAVAO CITY – A man driving a Subaru Sports Car carrying illegal drugs who evaded arrest at Sirawan Checkpoint manned by Task Force Davao (TFD) was captured after troops chased him, Wednesday morning (April 7).
TFD commander Colonel Consolito Yecla identified the suspect as Zyrone Rois Pedregosa Manansala, 30, single, self-employed and a resident of B22, L15, Tahimik Avenue in this city.
He was on board the said car bearing Plate No. LAI 8383 color blue traversing from General Santos City to Davao City.
The troops immediately conducted pursuit operations to apprehend the suspect.
With the help of the community, the suspect was captured at Agton Street in Toril. TFD men seized a medium size zip lock filled with marijuana from the suspect.
For the past three months this year, TFD in support of the anti-illegal drugs campaign of the City Government seized a total of P370,007 worth of illegal drugs and apprehended 16 persons.
Yecla lauded the effort of the troops for a job well done.
“Their professionalism accounts to their training and sharing of best practices. A commendable accomplishment with no violation of Human Rights and no fatality,” Yecla said.
He said the capture of the suspect was attributed to the cooperation of civilians who are practicing the Culture of Security.
Meanwhile, the suspect is currently detained at the Toril Police Station pending the filing of a case while the drug items were place under the custody of the Toril Police for documentation.
