Holy Thursday fire razes 28 houses in Bankerohan

DAVAO CITY- Up to 28 houses were burned when fire  hit Purok 5, Barangay 5-A, Bankerohan here on Thursday night (April 1).

Senior Fire Officer 4 Ramil Gillado, chief of the Intelligence and Investigation of the Davao Fire District, the fire started at the house of Ramon John Solite around 11:20 p.m.

He said out of the 28 houses burned, 13 were totally destroyed and 15 were partially damaged.

Gillado said the fire occurred in the first floor of the two-storey house made of light combustible materials. Investigation revealed that the ceiling was made of plywood and was installed with lots of electrical wirings.

The fire was contained by firefighters around 1:15 at dawn. Damage to property was estimated at P500,000.

Fire investigators point to electrical overheating to have triggered the fire.
