DAVAO CITY – The Department of Health – 11 (DOH-11) has asked all barangays in Davao Region to assist all Senior Citizens who are interested to be inoculated with COVID-19 vaccine.

In an interview, DOH-11 regional director Dr. Annabelle Yumang said barangay officials should make a strategy on how to register the elderly in their areas especially those who are interested to get vaccinated.

“Naa man gyuy mga senior citizens nga dili makalakaw, so kinahanglan gyud nga naay pamaagi nga mapalista gyud ni sila ( There are senior citizens who are not abled to walk, so, the barangays should have created how to register them),” she said.

Yumang said all senior citizens will be vaccinated right after the medical frontliners who are now having its second dose for those injected with Sinovac.

She said the elderly sector will be using AstraZeneca vaccine since Sinovac is only good for 18 to 59 years old.

On April 7, the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro will conduct its vaccination forum for the senior citizens through online platform.

The forum will discuss the benefits and the reason why senior citizens should be vaccinated.
