2 suspected terrorists killed in South Cotabato shootout

DAVAO CITY- Two siblings who are alleged members of a Local Terrorist Organization operating in Central Mindanao were killed in a shootout with police operatives in Sitio Bio, Purok 4, Barangay Lapu, Polomolok, South Cotabato on Tuesday afternoon (April 6).

In a report from Police Regional Office (PRO) 12, the suspects were identified as Jourhan Palalisan Utap and his younger brother Mohaimen Palalisan Utap.

The arresting teams composed of PNP Special Action Force and PRO 12 operatives were serving warrants of arrest against Jourhan Utap when he and his brother manifested violent resistance triggering a brief shootout with the arresting team.

Both armed suspects were declared dead by attending physicians at the Polomolok Municipal Hospital.

Troops recovered a caliber.45 pistol, caliber.357 revolver, and five small plastic sachets of suspected shabu from the slain suspects.

Police records showed that Jourhan Utap is accused of violatingPresidential Decree Number 1866 or unlawful possession, manufacture, dealing of firearms, ammunition or explosives filed before the Regional Trial Court Branch 62 of Polomolok, South Cotabato with a Warrant of Arrest issued by Honorable Judge Allan Edwin B. Boncavil on December 2, 2020.

PRO 12 director Brigadier General Michael John Dubria confirmed that both suspects are active members of the terrorist group Dawlah Islamiya-SOCSARGEN KHATIBA under the leadership of Ali Boy Nilong.
