100% of DCPO personnel willing to undergo COVID vaccination

DAVAO CITY – Personnel of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) express willingness to get vaccinated as protection from COVID-19.

Speaking to reporters at AFP-PNP Press Corps Media briefing on Wednesday, DCPO chief Police Colonel Kirby John Kraft said they had conducted the survey among its personnel to determine how many are willing to be vaccinated once the vaccines arrive.

He said 100 percent of their personnel wanted to be inoculated.

DCPO has a total of 2,300 personnel and they are ready for the anti-COVID vaccines.

It can be recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte has first announced that the medical front liners including the law enforcers will be first to be vaccinated.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Deputy Chief for administration Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, on the other hand said  police personnel would not be forced to be vaccinated . However, he stressed the need for the country to achieve herd immunity, especially in urbanized cities.

Davao City, together with Metro Manila and Cebu City, were given top priority in the rollout of the vaccines in the country because of increasing cases of COVID-19.

A series of simulation exercises was held here recently in preparation for the arrival of the vaccines this month. The simulation was conducted to avoid vaccine wastage.

The city, meanwhile identified some composite teams to man the seven identified vaccination sites. Each team shall compose of six members including a supervisor who is a physician, registration, and screening also a physician, nurse or midwife, one counselor, one vaccinator and two staff who are responsible for recording and documentation.

These vaccination sites include Mabini Elementary School in Bangkal, Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), University of Southeastern Philippines, Ateneo de Davao University-Matina Campus, and three branches of the University of Mindanao namely Guianga, IIang, and Bolton campuses.

A Security personnel will also be deployed to maintain peace and order in the vaccination areas in the city.
